Mstislav Rostropovitx (errusieraz: Мстисла́в Леопо́льдович Ростропо́вич, translit.: Mstislav Leopol'dovič Rostropovič; Baku, Azerbaijan, Sobietar Batasuna, 1927ko martxoaren 27a - Mosku, 2007ko apirilaren 27a) errusiar biolontxelo-jotzailea izan zen.

Biografia

Moskuko kontserbatorioan egin zituen ikasketak, eta 1957. urtean irakasle izendatu zuten.

1950. urtetik aurrera kontzertuak eman zituen Europan eta Amerikan, arrakasta handiarekin.

1970. ondorengo urteetan sobietar gobernuari aurka egiteagatik herritartasuna kendu zieten berari eta emazteari, Bolxoi antzokiko sopranoa zen Galina Vishnevskayari.

1977. urtetik Washington D.C.ko orkestra sinfonikoko musika zuzendaria izan zen.

1989an berreskuratu zuen sobietar herritartasuna, eta hurrengo urtean, hamasei urteko erbestealdi baten ondoren, emanaldi bat eskaini zuen Sobietar Batasunean.

1991n Moskura joan zen demokrazia sortu berriarekin, estatu kolpearen mehatxupean baitzen, bere elkartasuna erakustera; bera izan zen Yeltsinen ondoan egon zen intelektual famatuena.

Bereziki interesatzen zitzaion Johann Sebastian Bachen obra, eta haren suiteak grabatzea izan zuen azken urteetako proiekturik handiena (1995).

Sari asko jaso zituen, eta 30 honoris causa doktorego, mundu osoan.
