Visitors to Ghana must obtain a visa from one of the Ghanaian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the countries or territories that are either visa exempt or whose citizens may obtain a visa on arrival.[1][2]

Citizens of the following countries and territories are not required to obtain a visa to enter Ghana, for a stay up to the duration listed below:[1][2]

Visa is also not required for holders of a Dual Nationality Card issued by Ghana. Pre-arranged visa may be picked up on arrival.[1]
Holders of diplomatic, official, or service passports issued to nationals of Brazil, China, Cuba, Germany, Iran, Namibia, South Africa and holders of diplomatic passports issued to nationals of Turkey do not require a visa for Ghana.
Ghana signed a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic, official and service passport holders with Equatorial Guinea[9] on 24 August 2017, India[10] on 13 June 2016, Saint Kitts and Nevis[11] in November 2018, Venezuela[12] on 9 July 2018, with Malta[13] in March 2019 and with Angola[14] in August 2019 and they are yet to be ratified.
- A visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and service passports was signed with Serbia on 8 July 2022 and it is yet to come into force.[15]
- A visa exemption agreement for all passports was signed with Grenada on 15 February 2024 and it is yet to come into force.[16]
- A visa exemption agreement for all passports was signed with Malawi on 7 February 2024 and it is yet to come into force.[17]
- A visa exemption agreement for all passports was signed with The Bahamas on 31 January 2024 and it is yet to come into force.[18]
Visa on arrival
Since 1 July 2016, all nationals of the African Union that are neither visa-exempt nor eligible to obtain a gratis visa can instead obtain a regular visa valid for a maximum stay of 30 days upon arrival in Ghana, for a fee of 150 USD.[2][19][20]
The arrangement would be piloted at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra for 3 months, and thereafter extended to all other entry points of the country.[21][22] However, Timatic does not list nationals of Morocco as being eligible to obtain a visa on arrival.[1]
Nationals of Egypt and Rwanda can obtain a gratis visa free of charge upon arrival in Ghana. The gratis visa is valid for a maximum stay of 60 days.[2]
If special requirements are satisfied, citizens of countries without any diplomatic or consular mission of Ghana who are travelling on short notice may also obtain a visa on arrival.[23]
Visa is granted on arrival for holders of a copy of a pre-arranged approval from immigration.
