Zasięg występowania
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w południowo-wschodniej Azji (Malezja, Indonezja i Filipiny)[3][4].

Etymologia
Malayotyphlops: nowołac. malayanus „malajski”, od mal. Melayu „Malezja”, od Melaka Malakka; τυφλωψ tuphlōps, τυφλωπος tuphlōpos „ślepy wąż”[2].
