ジェイムズ・Q・ウィットマン(James Q. Whitman)は、米国の弁護士であり、イェール大学 フォード財団フェローシッププログラムの比較外国法教授[1]。
経歴
ウィットマンは、投資家で慈善家のマーティン・J・ウィットマンの息子で[2]、姉はトニー賞を受賞したプロデューサーのバーバラ・ウィットマン[2][3]。
1980年にイェール大学で学士号、1988年に法学博士号を取得した。1982年にコロンビア大学で修士号を、1987年にはシカゴ大学で博士号を取得した。2010年にグッゲンハイム・フェローに選出され[4][5]、2015年にはルーヴェン・カトリック大学より名誉博士号を授与された。
2017年に出版された、 Hitler's American Model: The United States and the Making of Nazi Race Law(邦訳:ヒトラーのモデルはアメリカだった 法システムによる「純血の追求」)は批評家の称賛を受けた[6][7]。
また、同年にアメリカ芸術科学アカデミー(AASS) のフェローに選出された[8]。
