アラン・メルツァー（Allan H. Meltzer、1928年2月6日 - 2017年5月8日^[1]）は、ボストンで生まれたアメリカの経済学者。主にカーネギーメロン大学で教え、専攻はマクロ経済学・金融経済学・政治経済学である。マネタリストとして有名である。アメリカの中央銀行の最も包括的な歴史書である"A History of the Federal Reserve"を著している。

略歴

• 1928年 マサチューセッツ州ボストンで生まれる
• 1948年 デューク大学を卒業する（経済学 A.B.）
• 1955年 カリフォルニア大学ロサンジェルス校（UCLA）を修了する（経済学 M.A.）
• 1956年 - 1957年 ペンシルヴェニア大学ワートン・スクールで講師をする
• 1958年 カリフォルニア大学ロサンジェルス校でPh.D.を得る
• 1957年 - 1961年 カーネギー工科大学のGraduate School of Industrial Administrationで助教授となる
• 1961年 - 1964年 カーネギー工科大学のGraduate School of Industrial Administrationで准教授となる
• 1964年 カーネギー工科大学のGraduate School of Industrial Administrationで教授となる
• 1969年 - 1970年 カーネギーメロン大学（1967年合併のため大学の呼称が変更になる）の教授（Ford Distinguished Research Professor）となる
• 1970年 - 1980年 カーネギーメロン大学の教授（Maurice Folk Professor of Economics and Social Science）となる
• 1980年 - 1991年 オーリンビジネススクールの政治経済・公共政治教授となる
